109-Year-Old Woman Says Avoiding Men Is The Secret To A Long Life

Longevity is a big question for all of us and how to reach it hasn’t been answered completely yet. However, this 109-year-old woman says that she knows the answer. Many people talk about their different remedies and diets that they consume throughout their life in order to reach very old age, but this story has a different point of view.

Back in 2015, Holiday Retirement made a survey across America that inspected seniors over the age of 100 and asked them what they thought the reason for their longevity is. When the survey was finished, there were many people that had their own opinions of how they reached old age.

Some of the participants said it was all about their family, while others said that that living their life to the fullest was the secret. However, one of the most unexpected answers came from a 109-year-old woman named Jessie Gallan.

Jessie was born in 1906 and raised on a farm in Kintore Scotland and lived with her parents and six siblings. Her life was very simple and rural. She slept in a cottage and lived life freely and peacefully.

For a short while, she went to school and after she started looking for a job in a farm kitchen. After her first job, Jessie began working as a housemaid in the city for a wealthy family. Later, she began working in the service industry.

Jessie later moved into the Corby House which is a home that provides accommodations for the seniors that are alone or ill. A worker in the Corby House named Gillian Bennet states that “Jessie is a lovely woman. She has got her best friend here, Sarah Jane, and they are always together. She likes her music and likes her exercise class and is a very independent person. She is always walking about.”

Jessie passed away in March 2015, however, before she passed away she provided her secret for her longevity. She stated that “My secret to a long life has been staying away from men,” Gallan noted. “They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.”

Jessie also gave out an additional secret to her liveliness and stated: “I like my porridge. I have all my life.”

Jessie gave a really interesting theory that is up for debate. Because many women are falling desperate in their search for good men, this might be the way to give it a go and let the prince charming find you instead. Although no one can confirm if her theory is correct or not, it definitely an interesting method to think about.
