Muhammad Ali Dead: Boxing Legend Sadly Dies At 74

We are absolutely heartbroken. Muhammad Ali sadly passed away on June 3 after being hospitalized just 24 hours earlier. He was 74 years old. Get all the details here.

We have lost a true legend. Boxing great Muhammad Ali passed away at the age of 74 on June 3, and we are absolutely devastated about it.
Muhammad Ali has died, his rep confirmed in a statement.
“After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening,” family spokesperson Bob Gunnell told HollywoodLife.com.
The statement also said, “Muhammad Ali’s funeral will take place in his hometown of Louisville, KY. The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time.”
This sad news comes after Muhammad wasrushed to the hospital on June 2 for a respiratoryissue. He was determined to be in fair condition following the hospitalization, according to his rep, but has now succumbed to the illness.
However, this was not the first time the former boxer has had health issues. He spent time in the hospital in Dec. 2014 after suffering a bout of pneumonia, and found himself back there in Jan. 2015 to be treated for an infection. Fans feared his death would actually come much sooner than now, too, because in Feb. 2013, his brother gave an interview claiming Ali couldn’t speak and would be dead in “days.” His daughter refuted the statement at the time, though.
In case you’re not familiar with Muhammad’s career, he’s widely considered as the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. He won his first championship at the age of 22 in 1964, then took the title again in 1974 and 1978. He announced his retirement in July 1979, but didn’t wind up having his last fight until Dec. 11, 1981.
Muhammad was married four times and has nine kids — his youngest daughter, Laila Ali, is a professional boxer herself. Our thoughts are with the loved ones he’s left behind.
