A nearly deadly accident left a toddler with his head in need to be properly attached to this toddler’s body.
According to The Sun, 16-month-old Jackson Taylor was being driven by his mother along with his 9-year-old sister when they collided with a vehicle going upwards of 70 MPH. As a result of the impact of the collision, Taylor suffered from “internal decapitation” which is when the head is severed from the rest of the body.
Paramedics were quick onto the scene, and baby Taylor was airlifted to a hospital in Brisbane, where doctors performed a six-hour operation that many people are calling nothing short of a miracle.
With his life on the line, Dr. Geoff Askin, who has been called Australia’s “godfather of spinal surgery,” led the team of surgeons to undertake such a delicately complicated operation. They used a piece of wire along with Taylor’s rib to successfully reattached his vertebrae
Taylor’s family along with friends are elated that he is making a speedy recovery. In order to keep everything together, he’ll be required to wear a halo for the next week, but is expected to live a healthy and normal life upon healing. What a miracle and blessing that Taylor’s life was able to be saved!
“A lot of children wouldn’t survive that injury in the first place, and if they did and they were resuscitated then they may never move or breathe again,” Askin said.
“It was a miracle,” Taylor’s mother said.
